Saint Francis Xavier School Improvements

LOCATION: Winooski, Vermont
CLIENT: Saint Francis Xavier School
STATUS: Completed 2015

Renovations to the 153 year old Saint Francis Xavier School transformed the landscape, entry, main lobby, library, circulation, offices, and student bathrooms. Lighting, mechanical systems, ADA accessibility, and life safety code compliance were significantly improved.

A small but robust entry addition with a soaring gothic style arch window resonates with the architectural style and character of the vintage 1941 building. The renovated reception area welcomes the St. Francis community in a light filled atrium, creating a delightful gathering space that connects the upper levels of the school. Associated renovations restored many of the existing architectural features and materials such as granite, limestone, brick, and ironwork. The library and common areas were enhanced through the improvements made in the egress circulation and brightened with new energy efficient lighting.

The project was made possible by a generous donation from the Donum Dei Foundation and the spirited dedication of the St. Francis Xavier community.
