3 South Street Wins Two Awards

Efficiency Vermont’s top award for a major renovation of a commercial building has been awarded to Middlebury College's President’s House at 3 South Street. The "Honor Award" was presented at Efficiency Vermont's Better Buildings by Design Conference in February 2017. The award recognizes the energy efficiency measures incorporated into the project's design. Originally built in 1854, some of the renovations featured the installation of geothermal wells for heating and cooling, a rooftop solar array, high-efficiency lighting and mechanical systems, and insulated windows and doors. The project received LEED Platinum certification in 2016.

Additionally, The Vermont Green Building Network has recognized the project with a "Going Green Commercial Building Award" for having a demonstrated energy performance using 30% of the energy used by the average commercial building in New England.
