Select is a dynamic, creative, branding-marketing design company that has been growing steadily since the 1980’s when the company was founded (and entirely staffed by) by founders Kevin Owens and Jeff Beer. They are a hands-on, creative client with a strong vision and desire to create the best workspaces possible while creating a showcase of their distinct brand for local and international clients.
SAS Architects has worked with Select since 2004 repurposing spaces in their vintage 20th century factory building that was originally home to the Vermont Milk Chocolate Company.
Select’s purposeful aesthetic allowed for unique spaces to be created from defunct hoist way shafts, repurposed freight elevators, stairs and other historic detritus. A fragment of a partially-disassembled hoistway dominates the entry lobby, providing historic context contrasting with the modern interventions that support this 21st century branding firm.
Neighborhoods were designed to respond to the specific needs of each department or project team.
A slender 3-story addition and renovations in 2014 provided Code-compliant accessibility while seamlessly uniting three levels around a central communicating stair.
